Letter to the Editor by Heiko Kallenbach
As a long-time resident of Citrus County, I feel compelled to reach out to my fellow citizens to express my support for the re-election of my good friend Holly Davis to the Board of County Commissioners.
Holly and I have known each other for years, sharing our mutual fondness for the great outdoors through activities such as flying, scuba diving and boating together. Her commitment to this community and its residents is unparalleled, as are her integrity, strength of character and long-term vision for the Nature Coast.
Holly is a traditional fiscal conservative who believes in small government. With the private sector being able to accomplish many things more effectively than the government can, only certain issues, such as public safety, infrastructure, etc., should be undertaken by the state.
And the taxes levied upon us should be limited to what is necessary to maintain those services and facilities, now and in the future, and what is mandated by the state or federal government. That is how we maximize the value of every tax dollar.
Holly is a straight shooter; she tells the truth, and when faced with a question to which she does not know the answer, will say, “I don’t know, but I will find out.”
Her extensive background in marketing has given her a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges our community faces, given the expected growth that is coming our way. I would strongly encourage everyone to attend one of her many public events or to navigate to her website VoteHolly.com for the answers to any questions you may have and take any comments you wish to leave.
Thanks to many of Holly’s efforts, Citrus County was named the fifth best place to retire in Florida for both 2023 and 2024. Let’s ensure that she has the opportunity to continue her fine work for the betterment of us all.
