Letter to the Editor, as published in the Citrus County Chronicle May 13, 2020:
So … the three amigos are at it again! According to Jimmie T. Smith, “If the county can’t figure out how to pay for a person to be in a hotel room with our already approved budget, we have a problem.” Why would you want to lose federal government funding? What’s the rush guys to appear as loyal Republicans supporting what Trump would like to do, in order to gain approval from their supporters? This is not a partisan problem, nor should it be. That you could actually bully your way in and rebuff the plans that Brian Coleman and the committee he formed for a practical, well-thought-out plan, is above and beyond foolish.
Everyone would love to open up the stores and restaurants, but at what cost? Even according to the governor, he wants to take “baby steps.” I pray that the two Republican women running for the commission will come out strong on the other end of the election. We need diversity on the commission and representatives who provide a common sense approach. We need women who will bring positive change, are pragmatic and have a vision for the county long term … gee … that sounds like Holly Davis and Ruthie Schlabach. They certainly have my vote.
