Letter to the Editor, as published in the Citrus County Chronicle August 5, 2020:
As a Citrus County Commissioner from 1994-2006, I am often asked my opinion on local, state and national issues, including my opinion on the upcoming elections. I have had the best of interest of this county in my heart for many years. Our county is in trouble and in need of help.
Citrus County needs leadership. Citrus County needs Holly Davis as our next County Commissioner in District 5. Why? Citrus County is in dire need of someone who understands the importance of long-term planning and can gain the consensus of the Board of County Commissioners to make things happen now and long into the future. Holly has spent her career in long-term strategic planning, developing winning teams, and achieving goals.
Our county needs a new direction and she will take us there. We need a commissioner who thinks beyond tomorrow and develops and implements plans for 10, 20, 50 years from now. The BOCC needs to think ahead, way ahead, or we will fail as a county.
Holly is stepping into this role with no experience in government. This is the fresh look we so desperately need, especially as her professional background is uniquely suited to being highly successful in this role. I am convinced that she will not only bring consensus to the board, but she will deliver new ideas that only an outsider to the establishment can bring. Please join me in voting for Holly Davis for our new commissioner for District 5.
