Diversifying our economy a win for us all.
On August 29, 2024, Governor DeSantis flew to Citrus County to deliver a $2.8 million grant to get Holder Industrial Park over the line to be shovel-ready with water and sewer service. 🙌🏻 We’re on the cusp of some game-changing employers moving to Citrus County –  those who don’t harm the Nature Coast, and bring high-wage jobs.
This has a great variety of benefits, and no downside: the Holder Industrial Park has been teed up for many years to be one of our very few light industrial areas (the other notable one being the Inverness Airport Business Park). It’s in the area where county leadership from decades ago determined to drive the future forecast growth: the central ridge high ground away from environmentally sensitive areas and waters.
Having additional commercial properties on our tax rolls protects our residents, providing an even higher quality of life while also protecting our status as one of the lowest tax burdens in a low-tax state.
With so many retirees in the area, these higher wage jobs are especially nice to give our kids and grandkids a great reason to live-work-play in the paradise we call home.
